Hide and Seek

All I could hear was ‘48, 49, 50  here I come’ I was shaking in fear. I saw Jonti he was saying ‘found you, found you’, I thought he was saying found you to me. I ended up just standing there in fear as the big loud “I found you” voice came towards me even closer, closer and closer . I got sick of this hiding spot not that it was bad, but it was because it stunk like old clothes.

Have you ever played hide and seek and you’re standing there with your fingers crossed shaking in fear? Well I was standing there with my fingers crossed and shaking in fear. I looked out the window so I didn't have to smell the horrible smell. When I looked out the window I saw green wet grass,  dull buildings, and the colourful  playground. 5 minutes were gone as I was in my day dream ‘found you’ a big loud noise spooked me. I hopped out of my hiding spot and went and sat down I was thinking to myself could I have done better?

What activity am I working on: I am working on making a sculpture of a star out of recycled materials I chose this because it can be a decoration at home.

Where will I work:

I am working on the art area because it has glue guns and a big space for me to work on.

What do I need to bring:

Glue sticks

Plastic spoons 

Cardboard 

Two soda bottles/ plastic bag

Yarn

Steps:

Cut out two star pieces out of cardboard.

Cut out ten triangles out of the cardboard for the star.

Cut the handle part of all the plastic spoons.

Start gluing the spoons to the centre in a spiral pattern. 

Glue all of the spoon heads in a pattern around the star.

Cut the bottom of the plastic bottle.

Poke a hole on the cap. 

Cut the bottle on a screw pattern going upwards.

Thread some yarn through the holes of the bottle caps.

Glue the bottle with the yarn on two points of the star

Week:6 Calendar art 

In week 6 I made a calender art at the start I did not know what to do because there was three different calendar arts to do. The three different  thing we got to choose out of was tapa cloth, silhouette and stripes. I choose silhouette with stripes. 

The struggle for me was trying to choose what to do and trying to cut the stripes in a straight line. In the end I used the school cutter it was easier.

How can a moment in time capture the heart of Waimairi School is what we were talking about because the way of capturing the heart of Waimairi School to us is taking photos this is my photo.

See how they are all interacting with each other. A little bit of knowledge  that I learnt last year is that If people  are interacting with each other it is called people and people, and if they are interacting with the playground it is could people and place.

 

Fly on the wall:

My class ( kahukura ) has a driving question that says how can we capture the heart of Waimairi School. So we went out around the school but first we had to email the teacher of the class that we were going to I went to the Afternoon Programme. Well I thought  that it would be good to go there because I have never been there before to learn. I emailed Gayle and asked if I could go there she replied with an absolute yes and I was looking forward to going to the awesome Afternoon Programme. 

Week 2:

In week 2 we started taking photos to capture the heart of Waimairi School.

We went round on the playgrounds and took photos to capture the heart of Waimairi.

 Week: 4 

In week four we started our sculpture and I made a parol with Heilee. A parol is a Xmas Decoration in the

Philippines we used spoons, cardboard, wire and hot glue.

I found that I work really well with Heilee because we don't fight.

I loved making the parol because first I'm not from the Philippines and second I have never made a parol befor so I found making it really interesting.

In week one we started to do sculpture research because it is my school's art term so I started to find out about Lisa Black don't know why I was finding out about her but I did and this is my Lisa Black research.

My sculptor is a female.

Lisa Black is a sculpture artist and jeweller based in Auckland, New Zealand.

When Lisa black began sculpting it became a hobby kindled by dreams and personal reflections on the place of technology within our world. In 2004 she turned her passion into a profession. Establishing a close connection with nature.

Lisa got her career started and all up and running using recycling and mixed metal materials. 

Lisa was born in 1982 in Australia.

Week five was fun because I played a part in drama. It was fun but because another classmate made bad decisions by making us do what we were doing in front of another class ohhh it was embarrasing.

In week three I went to do music with a group of people. We had to get into another group and we and to go round the class and find something to make music. Once we had our thing to make music we had to make a song or a beat.

Monday street art 

On the 31 of July we went on a art school trip it was fun but my worst bit about it was that Victoria square was completely closed. Kiri  and I were completely gutted   because that is what I was looking forward too as well  as all the street art. On the way to the broken down miserable Victoria Square  some of them are good and some of them are bad because some of them make the city ugly and some of them have a good effect on the city.

How it is so nerve wrecking changing schools

Have you ever changed schools? 

Well I have, here is a story about one of my best schools that  I have been to. I walked into Waimairi school with my mum I was 6 it was nerve wrecking, I was not one of those kids that 

loved coming to school because of my last  experience with     Bishopdale primary, well I made a lot of friends but the teachers were hard to approach and they were hard to talk to. Different story at Waimairi all the teachers are easy to approach. Just this year yes this year I hardly knew Danielle but did you know what she is easy to talk to. 

You might not have experienced going to Wainui camp but I have, it is one of  my best experiences I have done at Waimairi school. Here Is how it went, the night before camp I was at home with mum, saying mum mum mum have you re checked my bag. She is standing there saying I will do it soon. I'm sorting out your sister I say ok ok ok, it is now bed time mum says,  I say ‘but but but but’ she says ‘ but what’  I say ‘ but I'm not tired’. Get to bed said a little voice from the room down the end, I hopped in bed  that was the end of that. 

I wake up I'm saying nope nope  nope nope I'm not going to camp, it is just not the day.

Mum says ‘Time for school’ I’am standing in front of my mirror almost pulling out my hair, Saying nope I'm not going to school. Then  I remember how good camp was last year. I finally get my bag and go out the door like nothing happened, as I walked out the door crash, bang, thump I fall  over mum runs to the door I'm on the floor laughing mum says come on are you ok you’re going to be late. I stand up I run to school we check in and then we talked about camp.  We hopped on the bus. I fell asleep and then we were there. 

We hopped of the bus and we talked again then we got to go to our cabin and all I could hear was I dibs I dibs I dibs and I just went with anything I got. We unpack all of our stuff and then we look around we got into our groups and did our first activity, the people that were in my activity group were Ruby, Margarette, Heilee, Josh and Hamish well this is all I could remember I guess I'm running out of time.

What I almost forgot.

My favorite bit about camp was high rope because I love climbing. Well I guess now I really have to let you but if you liked this then you're in for a treat  because this is only half of my experience so if you liked it then I hope one day you could come to Waimairi School or Wainui Camp.

Week: 9/10 

Introduction 

We had to do a plan for our push and pull playgrounds or a balloon powered car or a push and a push and a pull boardgame.

My plan for my push and pull playground:

At the start I designed how and where I wanted my stuff.

This is where I wanted to put everything and what everything was.

Then I listed everything that I need

After that I wrote who was bringing what.

Then we wrote down the steps.

 

I think that the monkey bars, slide, swing, platforms and firemans pole. 

I think that they were working well because the first time that we made the playground we were very excited so we rushed it. It looked horrible so the next day we when back and had a look, we thought that it would of been better if we restarted it so we did. Then the second time we made the playground we said this already looks  better and we are prouder. 

A struggle that I found was hot gluing and cutting the popsicle sticks and toothpicks and skewers. 

I think that they were hard to cut because we were using blunt scissors.

We were using blunt scissors because everyone else had all the other scissors and they wouldn't share. 

Where will I go from here: 

I think that I am going to try not make so much of a mess and not just talk to other people. I also do not want to be like some people and go up do Kiri or Danielle and say do you have a hot glue stick in your pocket, do you have this, do you have that?

Introduction: what is force

Force is a strength used in our everyday lives.

Push

If an object is moving ( like a scooter ) it will stop if it hits an object because of the still force.

Push

A toy car needs a push force to move, so if a push force does not push it, it will not move.

A car needs a forward force to move forward.

Gravity 

If you write in a book gravity keeps your arm on the 

book as you write.

Pull

To go canoeing you need to push and pull the oar because when you need to move you have to push the oar down one side so you are pulling the otherside.

Material you will need:

tape

Scissors

straw

balloon 

string 

How you make a push and pull rocket balloon:

Step:1

Tie one end of string to some type of surface or tape it to some type of surface.

Step:2

Get the other end and pull it through the straw. Pull it firm then attach the other end to another surface in the room.

Step:3

Blow the balloon up then pinch the end so the air doesn't come out. DON'T TIE THE BALLOON.

 

Step:4

Get the tape and double side it so then you can tape it to the balloon and the straw.

Step:5

As you are holding the balloon shut pull the balloon all the way back. Then let it go and if you want have another student or friend marking where it finishes.

The data that I gathered was the string length, we measured this so we could see the different push and pull force.

The data that we gathered was string angle, balloon size, straw length, tension, time and we had to record notes.     

What variables did I change: 

I changed the balloon size from 25cmX19cm  to 29cmX30cm and the result was better because the balloon went faster than the first three attempts, I recon it was better because there was more air in it so it was faster. 

What did I learn:

I learnt that if you put two balloons  on one straw it slows it down because one of the balloons deflate faster than the other one.

Wonder

 

How can I use my knowledge with  push and pull force. I can use it in the playground. My sister doesn't know anything about the push and pull force so I will teach her about the push and pull force.

This is new learning for me because at the start I didn't know what some of the science vocabulary.

Get something or someone to hold it shut then add tape.

Attach the balloon with the tape to the straw so the air loop is facing the opposite way.  

Let the air loop go.

Then see how far the balloon goes down the string and how long it takes the balloon to travel down to the end.

Week 7 

What I have done?

We got to choose out of two push and pull activities they were chair pulley and mini golf I choose chair pulley because it looked fun and I have a mini golf course at home and I made that myself so I already knew everything about that.

What I found out?

I found out that if we were going to pull the container up if you let it go it would break because of the force so we had to but some string so it could but the stick underneath it so it wouldn't break have a look at the photo.

What I wonder?

I wonder why the force of it when you let it go why does it break and I also wonder how do the string wind up we it is over a toilet roll.

Autumn writing

The leaves are falling. the leaves are orange, red and some are still green. The birds are tweeting. The weather is warm, cold and windy. 

There are children going crazy running around on the wet field doing what they shouldn't be doing.

   The heaters are on in the class people are  still cold while

People are running round like it summer.

          

High Ropes

       

I’m thinking yea yea I have this under control. I know what to do and how to do it, only because I have been to clip and climb and that was easy.

 I wondered if I could do it or if it is safe. 

I’m shaking in fear. I feel white and sick because the high ropes are moving with me. I was wobbling and thinking how far can I go from here it was so thin it was like I was going to fall of. 

I say I want to get down to Margarette and Thomas. They get Graham and ask him if they can let me down, and he says yes they let me down slowly, and then I’m on the ground I was happy because, I got to the top of it. I was still shaken.

 I wondered if I could do a trick on the top.

Overall I was really proud of myself because I got to the top but I was still shaky. I was also immensely proud. 

Sunglasses

      

I am pink with black polka dots, 

She has not seen me for days.. she races past. I am lying here in the dark thinking what have I done wrong. I am sliding across the draw getting scratched and marked  even more than what I was. I was thinking about all of this because I was wondering why did she actually leave me…?

Then I saw her open the draw. I said to myself she remembered about me. My owner puts me on and wipes me with this type of blue soft thing known as a glasses cloth, it’s like a big fluffy blanket getting wrapped round you which makes you feel warm.

As she is putting me on we walk outside and I get a sense of happiness because she has   not forgotten about me.

Autumn poem

 

A whisper of gust flows past me.

Water flicks off the leaves as it floats side to side. Firing leaves get kicked over and around the dripping wet grass. The crispy colorfully leave crinkly under my cold and wet feet.

What I have done?

I got to choose between 3 science push and pull activities. They were basketball bounce, ping pong ramps and chair pulleys. I choose to do basketball bounce because I never usually use a basketball and I wanted to see the different forces in a basketball. I made a four square with Hamish.g, heilee, Sean, Jackson and Ruby.p we used a piece of chalk to draw the four square and a ball

What I found out?

I found out that if you push a ball hard and fast momentum and it hits an object it will bounce back because of the force or pressure 

What I wonder?

I wonder why the force pushes the ball back I also wonder why if you push the ball down why does it come back up.

I found out how to put together a data Recording sheet.

I put the straw on the string and blow up the balloon and then stuck the balloon to the straw that is attached to the window and the floor.

What I found out?

I found out that it is very hard to get the catapults to fly but it is easy to make the rocket balloons
